Lead weights are commonly used for carp fishing, particularly because of their weight and density. They allow bait to be cast very far.

The problem is that lead is harmful to the marine environment.

Caperlan, Decathlon's fishing brand, asked us to design a new, lead-free sinker. The challenge of this project was to come up with ways to cast lighter sinkers just as far. So we focused our work on aerodynamics and designed fins that pivot and glide through the air to extend the sinker's flight path.
